"A home from home" cardigan

Made in

It could have been made in Latin America and brought here, or made here, Bolzano, by someone from Latin America. I guess either Bolivia or Peru.

Alpaca Wool

Lived in

Lived in Latin America for a while and brought here by someone who moved to live in Bolzano. I migrated! Im pretty sure the person was a woman.

I know that Im handmade, I am damaged with 3 little holes... probably from moths. I havent been worn so many times but i must have been knitted about 10 years ago.

Clothing Law

People migrate with their culture, clothes are part of it. It is important to empower those patterns, materials and styles in the new country or the new home to be able to still feel at home wherever they are. My goal is: Empower people to keep their "home clothes" and to take care of them as it is part of who we are

Statement

I believe I deserve a seat in the PoSF to give voice to the garment who migrated (the immigrants) along with the people. They represent the culture and part of that home (heart) that they left behind.

This symbol means that this garment has been swapped, shared, sold or stolen. It has changed hands and bodies throughout It's life and has experienced more than one point of view.

this symbol shows a connection between two or more people. It can highlight a family bond; a cultural relation; or signify friendship; This symbol shows us how clothes have the power to unite us.

PoSF serves as an inclusive platform that welcomes and honours all approaches to clothing care and sustainability. In this collaborative space, we aim to empower ourselves and eachother through our garments, questioning the idea of agency and autonomy.
